Relaxed, friendly but coolly professional

“As a freelancer working for SCT you are immediately welcomed into the team.” - Cat Davison

First impressions count, and Square Circle Triangle certainly have that one covered. Once you’ve leaned all your weight into their trademark red door – a slab of dense translucent plastic I’ve heard more than a few Melbourne designers gossip admiringly about recently - then you get into the studio itself. Light, airy and vast, with chunky wooden beams and exposed pipe-work forming a wickedly contemporary skeleton; it has desk space you can lose yourself on, rows of state-of-the-art Macs and a pool table for, you know, playing pool.

There is space to think, space to work and space to create. But it doesn’t just look pretty. As a freelancer working for SCT you are immediately welcomed into the team. Everyone knows your name (and if you’re lucky even makes you a cuppa) and people ebb and flow through the studio over the course of the week in a chilled and quietly efficient manner where a lot actually gets done.

And we talk. Every morning there is ‘stand up’ where the studio meet in the kitchen to informally discuss what they plan to target that day; while a weekly meeting over a beer every Wednesday avo allows people to air any issues that might have arisen. Monday morning also sees one lucky studio member cook everyone a slap-up sit-down breakfast. Just remember not to burn the toast.

Along with an enviable work environment and a slew of awards, SCT boast a loyal list of big-hitting, internationally-renown clients. Web design and development (using Blocks, a centralised web-application created by SCT for content management) for company’s as diverse as [yellow tail] wine, Mirvac property development and various fashion labels means there is always something interesting to work on and get your teeth into. Every idea is heard, analysed and discussed.

Relaxed, friendly but coolly professional, SCT set a benchmark by which lots of other studios fall by the wayside. Here you are challenged to push yourself as far as creatively possible with top clients in a bespoke studio environment – a winning combination if ever I saw one.
